Tomales Bay Kayak Rentals
At Tomales Bay Expeditions our goal is to ensure that your experience on the water is both safe and satisfying. We currently offer kayak rentals from our new location at the Tomales Bay Resort in Inverness and drop-off rentals at public access points on Tomales Bay. If you have questions or ideas about arranging a paddle or an event, we’re here to help. Be it a picnic, birthday or boat-in camping trip, we believe that every expedition deserves to be crafted to meet the needs of its participants. While no prior experience is required to partake in these endeavors, first time paddlers and those new to the area may consider a guided tour.
We take pride in maintaining the quality of our kayaks and equipment. Our rental fleet consists of open deck double and single kayaks hand selected to match the conditions on the Bay. PFD’s, paddles and spray jackets are included with the rental of each kayak.
As the wind often increases throughout the day, launching in the morning is typically a safer decision when planning the logistics of your paddle. Prior to launching, each customer will be provided a tutorial including information about the equipment and the rules and regulations of kayaking on Tomales Bay. During this time, you will also have the opportunity to seek local knowledge of the area from our experienced staff.
Note: All paddlers must be a minimum of 5 years of age and 50 pounds in weight. All rentals subject to availability.
Come visit our new launch location at the northern end of the Tomales Bay Resort in Inverness. From here we offer kayak rentals for walk-ins and by reservation. This location offers premier access to paddle along the shores of the Tomales Bay State Park and Point Reyes National Seashore. These regions of the peninsula are best known for their natural beauty and diversity in plant and wildlife. Whether you plan to spend a few hours or a few days on the Bay, this is a great starting point. Having frequently the most desirable kayaking conditions in the area, this site also provides boat-in access to many public beaches without crossing the Bay. Given that good weather often attracts a large volume of paddlers to our area, we recommend making reservations in advance whenever possible.
Whether you are launching from a public access point on the Bay or are visiting somewhere with a private put-in, our drop-off rentals are designed to take you where you want to go. As these ventures typically entail a more detailed itinerary, we recommend this option mainly to experienced paddlers. Safety being our top priority, all drop-offs are done on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature of the paddle and current weather conditions. We are happy to assist in ensuring that your ideal outing is a success, but will not compromise the safety of our guests.
Note: Drop-off fees apply and may vary depending on the nature of the request.
